There’s always a chance to win the crown But when we fail to give our best We simply haven’t met the test.

Sometimes I think the Fates must Grin as we denounce and insist

The only reason we can’t win

Is the Fates themselves that miss

Yet there lives on an ancient claim

We win or lose within ourselves

The shining trophies on our shelves

Can never win tomorrow’s game

You and I know deeper down

Everyone’s health generally declines with time, and sooner or later we all die, so the question we all must answer is how to make the most of our finite time on earth.

In Die With Zero: Getting All You Can from Your Money and Your Life, American hedge fund manager and author Bill Perkins presents a practical guide on how to get the most out of your money—and out of your life.

You should be focusing on maximizing your life enjoyment rather than on maximizing your wealth. Those are two very different goals. Money is just a means to an end: Having money helps you to achieve the more important goal of enjoying your life. But trying to maximize money actually gets in the way of achieving the more important goal.

In Intentional Living: Choosing a Life That Matters, leadership author John C. Maxwell describes the process of living an international life. Maxwell notes, “When you live each day with intentionality, there’s almost no limit to what you can do. You can transform yourself, your family, your community, and your nation. When enough people do that, they can change the world. When you intentionally use your everyday life to bring about positive change in the lives of others, you begin to live a life that matters.”

There are four major characters in nearly every story: the victim, the villain, the hero, and the guide.

In Hero on a Mission: A Path to a Meaningful Life, American author, and Entrepreneur Donald Miller examine the role of story and finding meaning in our daily life. Miller uses  Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey as a metaphor for our life story.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 24, 1983, and raised in Columbia, Maryland, Alexis launched his first business soon after completing degrees in commerce and history at the University of Virginia. Ditching his plan to become a lawyer, he partnered with a friend, Steve Huffman, and pitched a mobile food-delivery app to the American startup accelerator Y Combinator in 2005.

YC rejected the concept but accepted Alexis and Huffman, agreeing to back their idea for a user-driven online media aggregator and discussion forum called Reddit; the following year, it was sold to publishing conglomerate Condé Nast for a sum that, according to a 2020 tweet from Alexis’s personal account, exceeded his parents’ lifetime earnings.

We don’t rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training. – Archilochus

I have been experimenting with various goal-setting strategies, such as goal stacking, goal scheduling, spaced repetition, morning routine practice, and the Pomodoro Technique, among others. At the beginning of every year, I set various goals and challenges to optimize my potential and fine-tune my body, mind and soul, such as the 100 Books Reading Challenge, 50 Reports Reading Challenge, 50 Biography Reading Challenge, John C. Maxwell 50 Books Reading Challenge, 50 Magazine Reading Challenge, 365 English Podcast Listening Challenge, 365 French Podcast Listening Challenge etc.

I set these challenges yearly to keep me grounded and help me stay hungry. As the late former Apple CEO Steve Jobs famously advised in his 2005 commencement speech at Stanford University, “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish,” I try to review my goals weekly and reaccess my commitment to the set goals. Some of the other goals and daily routines that I practice daily includes 5 AM Morning Routine (Study time for certification, SAVERS framework), Daily Meditation (400+ streak), daily gratitude journaling
