Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst helps Canadians and Canadian companies seize the opportunities and tackle the challenges of cybersecurity. The Catalyst collaborates with industry, governments and academic partners, and leverages the full expertise and capabilities of Ryerson University’s staff and faculty. The Catalyst is a not-for-profit corporation owned and operated by Ryerson University and based in Brampton, ON.
The Rogers University Cybersecure Catalyst Accelerated Cybersecurity Training Program
The Program is a 20-week intensive cybersecurity training and certification program designed to give promising learners from diverse backgrounds the skills they need to launch careers in the cybersecurity sector.
Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst created the Program in partnership with the SANS Institute, external link, opens in new window (SANS), the world’s leading cybersecurity training and certification firm. The Program is supported through the generous partnership of the Government of Canada, Rogers Communications, and Royal Bank of Canada.
Over the course of the Program, successful learners will earn two certifications from GIAC (Global Information Assurance Certification):
- GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), external link, opens in new window
- GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), external link, opens in new window
The GSEC and GCIH certifications are prominent cybersecurity accreditations that are recognized worldwide.
Successful learners will also earn a Recognition of Completion from Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst.
Important Note: This program does not grant credits towards a degree or certificate program at Ryerson University.
Fees
- Applicants who are accepted into the Program will pay a non-refundable $500 registration fee. All other fees of the Program are paid by the Program partners.
Training Location
- Training classes are held at the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst Training Centre at 2 Wellington St. West in Brampton, Ontario, located near the Brampton GO station and Brampton City Hall.
- Some elements of the Program are delivered in-class, and some elements of the program are delivered online. Applicants must be able to attend in-class elements of the Program in Brampton, Ontario.
The Program streams
The purpose of the Accelerated Cybersecurity Training Program is to empower promising learners from diverse backgrounds with the skills they need to launch careers in the cybersecurity sector.
The Program offers three streams:
- RBC Women in Cyber Stream
- RBC New Careers in Cyber Stream
- Rogers New Canadians in Cyber Stream
Applicants may apply to only one of the three streams, and each successful applicant is accepted into only one of the three streams.

NOTE
You may not be eligible for this Program if:
- You have completed post-secondary education or postgraduate education in the Information Security/Cybersecurity field.
- You are currently working in or have prior work experience in the Information Security/Cybersecurity field.
- You are currently in school.
